Accelerated Reader (AR) Classroom Helpers: K & 1st grade need volunteers to read AR books and assist with test taking.  All grade levels need volunteers to label books as AR in the classroom libraries and assist teacher in tracking studentís goals.  **See your classroom teacher for details. Accelerated Reader (AR) Committee: This committee helps with prize distribution and incentive parties throughout the year that motivates the students to read.

Book Fair Committee Representatives: The Media Center will oversee Blythe's three book fairs for the 2011/2012 school year. There will be a fair in September, April and June.(Please see event calendar for dates.) We need representatives to assist the media center with running the book fair, recruiting parent volunteers to staff the book fair, and keep books well stocked during the book fair.

Family Activities: This fun and exciting committee plans many of the school family events such as Autumnfest, Spirit Nights at Chick-Fil-A, Father/Daughter Dance and the Mother/Son Outing. Volunteers are needed to work at many of these events with various time commitments during a specific event or for a "shift". The committee has great volunteer opportunities for working parents since most of these events take place in the evening!

Fundraising Representatives: We have one executive board chairperson who works directly with the vendors; and then works with the Fundraising Representatives. We need several volunteers to collect/count money and to prepare/distribute products to students/parents. This school year we will have a large fundraiser in the fall and a smaller one in the spring.

Health Room: We need volunteers in the health room to take temperatures, bandage cuts/scrapes and call parents to pick up children. The time commitment is simply what your schedule will allow. Sign-up up in the health room or call the office to have your name added to the calendar.     *Donations of new under garments are always needed.

Safety and Greeting: We would like a greeter in the lobby to ensure every visitor is acknowledged and greeted when entering the school, and to ensure proper check-in procedures. This committee is reponsible for scheduling volunteer shifts throughout the day.

Staff Appreciation:
If you are interested in becoming part of a group who that will help show just how much that staff at Blythe is appreciated, this is the committee for you. The Staff Appreciation Committee is responsible for the beginning of the year staff breakfast, the fall staff luncheon, and the teacher/staff appreciation week luncheon.

Vision Screening: Each year we screen Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd and 5th graders to identify vision problems. We need volunteers to help with the screenings, which occur during two days in September. Bonnie Chen is the lead contact for this volunteer opportunity.

Yearbook: We need parents to take pictures and assemble class pages online. Volunteers will need digital cameras (at least 4 megapixels) and high-speed Internet access. We also need volunteers to assist with picture day and to help distribute yearbooks in April. If you love to take pictures, this is the committee for you!
